“Every Failure is a Learning”

People from all walks of life, at some instance, have faced downfall rather than call it a failure to be precise. So have I, I failed probably the extensively crucial examination of my life, the one which is supposed to decide whether or not will be spending the rest of my beautiful life beautifully or not. Since it’s the key to my beautiful life I was compelled to give myself a second chance, a chance to undo my mistakes and most importantly prove myself not to anyone out there but myself.

So that when I look back down the lane I thank myself to have taken those moments to set back and get to the race stronger and better. For everyone who is applying for NEET as a dropper might resonate with me at this point. Because trust me it’s not easy to see your peers thrive while you are still in the same loop.

All the droppers get the gist of being underground, isolated and mentally and physically cut off from the world, just for that one day when you will probably be getting ready to leave for your college not anymore as an aspirant but as a Medico. But let us just pause, come back to our senses and try to think, are we doing what’s necessary to get into the world of medicos before imagining it? At this point, even when we are aware of the fact what we are supposed to do, we however voluntarily manage to relinquish the purpose for what we got underway…

And for this being the reason, that we tend to lose control of ourselves, many of us enrol in coaching institutes. Thus, having a belief that enrolling on a reputed coaching institute would fetch us results, a remarkable AIR, and ultimately a GMC.

As my mentor truly says, Nobody can get through NEET solely by joining an institute, rather self-study would. It’s always more important to know ‘how to do‘ than ‘what to do’, as my NEET expert Dr. Sameer Phale sir always asserts.

The moment I gave it a thought, it changed my thoughts on how to approach a competitive exam which is a life-changing decision at the end of the day. So, here I would like to do my very best to parcel the analysis of the mistakes that I perpetrated during my fresh year.
Broadly, I would classify and mention my mistakes (rather than call them blunders) into two categories:

I. Academics (Regardless to comment, the most significant of all the preparation)

  1. To not trust your Mentors and not be transparent about preparation with them (you
can’t be at more fault than this)
  2. Not asking doubts (never hesitate to ask your doubts)
  3. Ignoring NCERT (you have started to retard your preparation then and there!)
  4. Studying unnecessary things beyond the scope and limitations of syllabus
  5. Getting decks of backlog.
  6. Lack of conceptual and logical clarity
  7. Just focussing on only one subject (there shoud be equal focus on all the three
    subjects)
  8. Missing regular tests and their discussions (they are game changers)
  9. Not analysing performances in regular weekly, group and full course tests.
  10. Not to rigorously practise MCQ’s (learning that theory ain’t gonna fetch you result)
  11. Not calculatedly looking after time management strategy.
  12. To not revise (it’s a crime, you got only two neurons you have to keep them reminding!

II. Lifestyle
1. Consuming social media (explanation required?)
2. Not to be disciplined (you can’t do without this)
3. To cry (those tears never help, give you headache though!)
4. Compromising on health
5. Having unnecessary conversations with friends and peers (in your drop year, it’s the
worst thing you can do to yourself)
6. Not to mindfully utilise time

Concluding, we all know the above-mentioned views, but it’s just a choice that we make.
Having faith in ourselves, being patient, calm, consistent and above all being honest and true to ourselves and our preparation is what all, it takes.
